Coleman Finally Concedes—7 Months Late

So Norm Coleman finally conceded his loss in the Minnesota Senate election to Al Franken—-only 7 months too late for even a shred of dignity.

It took a unanimous vote of the Minnesota Supreme Court to finally make Coleman give it up. Talk about making a fool of yourself—at the expense of your former constituents. And, of course, making sure that no one in MN will ever vote for you for anything again…

The late, great Molly Ivins is still with us in spirit, of course. One can imagine her pithy commentary on current events.

Molly would have loved to be here to see Obama elected. She would have had a field day making fun of Coleman trying to sue to get back the Senate seat he lost to Al Franken in a close but scrupulously recounted election. She would have skewered the hypocrisy of—-well, just too many to list—and we would have all had fun watching her do it.

Recount Over: Al Franken Wins

The state canvassing board has finished recounting all of the ballots. Al Franken leads by 225 votes. The canvassing board is scheduled to certify Franken as the winner today.

Franken Wins Suit to Count All Votes

In his recount in the Minnesota election for U.S. Senator, Al Franken just won a court case to get all eligible ballots counted. If a ballot that meets election criteria, why must he to go to court to get it counted?
